Photoshop Elements 11 & Mama Shan's Actions

Exciting news for users of Photoshop Elements version 11. Seems that many, if not all of Mama Shan's Actions that have been previously designed to work only in the full version of Photoshop CS versions, now appear to work in the $100 Elements 11 program!

What's different about Photoshop Elements version 11 compared to its predecessors? Well for starters there are some added filters and the Edit interface now has an actual Actions Palette (Go to the top menu "Window" and check it on!) On the top right of the Actions Panel click the flyout tab and choose "Load" to load in any of my ".atn" files. Highlight the desired action and click the Play button. No more doing cartwheels and the time consuming rebuilding of the database. This is a real boon to Elements users and well worth the upgrade!

I haven't tested all of the actions and bundles yet but I will be updating the "Compatibility" sections on the product pages over the next week. And please understand, the compatibility will only be for Photoshop Elements version 11!

If you have any questions about an action or bundle being compatible with the new Photoshop Elements 11, don't hesitate to e-mail or call me and I'll bump up the compatibility check for the action/bundle in question.

Photoshop CS6

This article will be short and very sweet! Many of you have been wondering if you're going to have to get an upgrade of my products for Photoshop CS6. and the answer is "NO!" All my products are compatible with Photoshop CS6!

Do You Have a Product to Sell?

If you have a digital imaging goodie that you'd like to sell but don't have the know-how, or book-keeping skills, you might consider letting Mama Shan's Digital sell it for you. Products submitted have to be up to my standards and comply with my EULA before approved for sale at my shop. Percentage of sale is negotiable and dependent on how much work has to be done to package product, and file size. I take care of all customer service. Send monthly checks, send quarterly and annual statements, and 1099MISC forms to my Product Partners. If you think you have something amazing, call me at 615.473.6317 or e-mail your product proposal to me!

Apple View

Finally, I have just about all the online videos, at Mama Shan's Digital, covered with an option to view on Apple devices, such as iPhone, iPad, iPod. I designed a little appleview/download icon that sits to the left of every video title.

Apple view or downloadView on Apple Devices, Mobile Device and/or Download on Computer  - Optimized for iPad. If you see this icon next to a video title, from your device, click it and you'll be able to watch the video from there, whether you are viewing from an iPad, iPhone, iPod or other mobile device! If you right click it from a computer and choose "Save Link As"-- it will download a 1280 x 720p (approx.) MP4 file which you can later view and re-size in Free QuickTime or Free Windows Media Player.

My Local Tech Hero

Just goes to show behind every cloud is a silver lining! HP sent out a local guy to fix my computer. And it now works. While he was here I asked him to take a look at Nora's computer, which died a month ago. She ended up getting one of those new solid state models---and does not regret it at all, even though the tech guy was able to fix her old one for $90!!! So, if any of you live in the greater Nashville area, and need a great computer guy, here's his info! Thank you, Larry!

Murphy's stinking law

One week before the scheduled launch of my new store a bunch of roadblocks came up, the most frustrating was and is that my computer is down. Everything is backed up, so I'm grateful for that but if you have ever been on the phone with hp tech support for over 5 hours over a three day period...you know what I mean. Finally got the case escalated so that my 4 year extended warranty can do what I paid for...and that is for a tech to come to my house to replace the graphics card. Lesson learned...next time I will cry on the first call to get it escalated to the right supervisor right away! Hate being without bigmama (my computers name) but hp is sending a tech to me on Monday. Keeping fingers crossed and middle one up to Murphy! I have an iPhone and iPad so I'm still hooked up for emails and can run my shop from either one! I LOVE "i's"

What bugs you--bugs me, too!

I just got the most amazing Camtasia video from, Rob Provencher from NOBS Photo Success. Man, he's living it up (or down) in Costa Rica, right now, but he took the time to give me a video critique over-view of my site before launching. And his suggestions were invaluable. He caught things that were bugging me...and I figured out how to fix most of them, after he pointed them out. I ended up deleting some things. like the Before and Afters pages and will just have to wait until I can figure out a better way to deliver those. Also added spacing to the Welcome side bar, didn't think I could but evidently adding some "html <p></p> tags" did the trick. Re-did my alt tags for the product dvd images, so that when you hover a pop up says, "Click for Product Details" I don't think Rob realized that, because he mentioned I needed to have more product details. I deleted the Learning Chores link because as Rob mentioned, seeing "under construction" is no good. Just get rid of it until the time when it's ready to publish. He suggested I put "Freebies" as its own link, but I'm not sure if I can do that because they are part of the catalog. Good idea, and I'll check further. Some things I can't do because of the template layout. But thanks to his suggestions, I did what I could and it's better, than it was! Mercie beau coup, Monsieur Provencher!

Project Downloads

I added some free Project Downloads under the Helpful Docs link. I was able to dig up these projects I created more than a decade ago, for the most part. They are still applicable today! I know I have many more somewhere, but for now I'll stop at 11, and continue with more as time permits.
